Why Foothold Was Created
Foothold grew out of volunteer work at Insight Housing, where conversations with residents revealed that traditional financial literacy materials did not always address the realities they were facing. Budgeting advice often assumed predictable income, while workforce resources did not always address employment gaps and transitions.
We began developing practical resources around those needs. The result is a four module curriculum focused on budgeting with unpredictable income, building an income shock buffer, managing debt when earnings fluctuate, and presenting employment gaps with confidence.
Our goal is simple: provide free, practical tools that can be used by individuals, case managers, volunteers, educators, and community organizations.
